Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Growing up, I remember studying the life and accomplishments of Martin Luther King, Jr. I was in awe of the changes he initiated in our country. He was truly an amazing visionary and leader. I never realized, however, how much his work would influence my life. Without Martin Luther King's dream, I probably would never have been able to achieve my dream of becoming a mother. My husband and I are white our son Joey is African American. I cannot imagine my life without my precious little boy. Yet, if Martin Luther King had not had his dream, I cannot help but wonder if my dream would have never come true.
"I have a dream that one day ... little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today." ~Martin Luther King, Jr.
